AFA 2012: Team Shikon (Interview)

Yukari & Kaito are Japanese drama actors, and are well known for being the Champion of WCS 2012.

Q: How long does it take for you to prepare for a competition?
TS: We do both the performance preparations and the costume-making at the same time, but the costume takes around a month, but to plan the actual performance it turned out to be about half a month this time.

Q: How do you choose the characters to compete with? Do you choose characters with more complicated costumes for higher points?
TS: We’re not really going for the costumes points because they don’t focus too much on that, and rather, we choose performances that we can do specifically because we are Japanese, like Samurai.

Q: How do you come up with the scenarios for the stage performances?
TS: First we study the series we are cosplaying the characters from and think about how we can perform in a way that both touches the hearts of that series’ fans as well as people who are not so familiar with the series, so that they become more interested. We always think to do a performance that explains the series well, taking scenes that are most relevant to the plot to perform.
